About
Who is Michelle Metta?

Hi, my name is Michelle Metta, and I’m a Somatic Trauma Recovery Coach, Mindfulness Teacher and Yoga Instructor.
Living with a genetic lung disease, Cystic Fibrosis, as well as Cystic Fibrosis-Related Diabetes has profoundly shaped me into the person I am today. Navigating these challenges from a young age meant facing realities most people my age didn’t, which taught me to grow up quickly, cultivate resilience and meet others with deep compassion and empathy.
Alongside other life-altering traumas, these experiences prepared me to guide others through their own pain and transformation, because I understand the weight of suffering as well as the possibility for healing and wholeness.
My career began in Secondary Education, where I had the privilege of working with youth at risk and teens with special needs. What I loved most about teaching was building genuine relationships with students, creating a mindfulness curriculum to help junior high kids develop emotional regulation and sharing yoga with teens to help them connect with their bodies and find calm.
I believe these skills – emotional regulation, self-awareness and embodied presence – are essential for all of us.
When health changes led me to step away from the classroom, I discovered my true calling in somatic healing. I began in life coaching, but soon felt drawn to deepen my skills to better support clients working through deep emotional wounds and trauma. This led me to extensive training in mindfulness-based, body-centered modalities including Hakomi Somatic Psychotherapy, Somatic Experiencing Therapy and Brainspotting Therapy. I’m passionate about somatic healing because it goes beyond talking about problems – it creates real, embodied change.
The body is a gateway to the unconscious, and by working gently and mindfully, we can release stuck emotions, process unfinished experiences and shift limiting beliefs. Because trauma often shapes us so deeply it can feel like part of our personality, this work can bring profound shifts – like feeling safe to trust others, setting healthy boundaries, resting without guilt or finally feeling “good enough.” Over time, people often notice a calmer nervous system, greater self-trust, more emotional freedom and a renewed sense of aliveness. For me, it’s the most impactful therapy I’ve ever experienced – both as a practitioner and as someone who has done my own healing.
Today, I work with clients across Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia through my private online practice. I also facilitate bi-monthly mindfulness gatherings and yoga classes. I’m delighted to now be offering my somatic healing services at Body & Mind Naturopathic Medicine, as well. I look forward to meeting with clients in person and being a part of a caring, integrative team.
When I’m not engaged in the above activities, I enjoy going for long walks, creating therapeutic artwork, strumming on the guitar, dancing my heart out and travelling the globe! I also love going on fun dates with my husband, catching up with friends over coffee or dinner and hosting themed costume parties.
